ASMedia ASM1153 Firmware Collection

1 vecka 12 timmar sedan - 1 vecka 10 timmar sedan

I Decided to flash all of my old ASM1153's from Seagate Enclosures to the best firmware

which seems to be this as it's the most feature complete and the latest
141126_A1_EE_83 UASP + TRIM + Drive ID Passthrough

If you get problems with flashing failing you can either short pins 1+2 with small tweezers to boot into the safe rom
built into the chip, unshort when the pc makes the usb connected sound
or just unplug it and plug back in and try again

you have to be on the safe rom if you want to backup your current firmware

LED Normal = On when doing nothing
LED Reversed = Off when doing nothing

ASM1153 + ASM1153E Firmware's
130605_A0_05_02 UASP NO TRIM NO LED (From Seagate Expansion )
140704_A0_93_00 UASP NO TRIM NO LED (From Seagate Expansion )
141126_21_B9_85 NO UASP NO TRIM Hard Coded ID USB\VID_0781&PID_5588&REV_0100 SanDisk Extreme Pro
141126_A1_00_00 UASP NO TRIM Hard Coded ID ASMT 2115
141126_A1_AB_21 UASP NO TRIM LED Reversed Drive ID Passthrough
141126_A1_D2_06 UASP NO TRIM LED Reversed Drive ID Passthrough
141126_A1_EE_82 UASP + TRIM
141126_A1_EE_83 UASP + TRIM + Drive ID Passthrough

I have about 10 WD My Book Enclosures with ASM1151W's

You can pull up a leg of the SPI chip to boot from the Internal rom but there are issues the drive doesnt stop spinning when the pc is off etc

I Removed the SPI chip earlier and put it in my CH341A unprotected the chip then erased it

Flashed Seagate Expansion ASM1153 Full 64K firmware all worked fine ASM1151W was locked at Sata II 3Gbps
but apart from that all fine
Then Flashed one of the above firmwares USB ID was correct
instead of ID Passthrough it said ASM2115 in control panel
It was in bot instead of UASP
Trim wasnt showing
But it was at Sata III 6Gbps (370 MB/s With Bot)

as soon as you power the board on the spi chip is write protected again and you have to unprotect it if its put back in a programmer

I think the write protection is what's causing issues with the firmwares above and the reason nobody on the internet has managed to flash them
where as the Seagate Expansion is hard coded so doesnt need write access to the SPI

after about 10 chip removals trying different nvram settings to resolve it
no luck

think im just going to call it a day and Flash them all with Seagate Expansion ASM1153 Firmware

The two i have tested sofar are all Sata III capable so are ASM1153E's

If i had a no solder solution for chip removal im sure i could fix it
what really needs to be sorted is the write protection that is applied on the board's powerup
i tried disconnecting Pin3 it still got write protected
