Re: Driver Intel SATA ou Microsoft ?
1 yıl 7 ay önce - 1 yıl 7 ay önceI totally agree with this general statement.Microsoft inbox SATA/AHCI and NVME drivers are much more "reliable" than the Intel ones. Use Microsoft driver if not for a particular reason.
Reasons:
- The modern generic MS Win10/11 in-box SATA AHCI and NVMe drivers are much better than the older ones and compatible with nearly all SSD health tools, which are delivered by the SSD manufacturers (e.g. Samsung Magician, WD Dashboard etc.).
- As a consequence many chipset manufacturers have already stopped the further development of their own specific AHCI/NVMe drivers.

Re: Driver Intel SATA ou Microsoft ?
1 yıl 7 ay önce - 1 yıl 7 ay önceOk thank you for your answerI totally agree with this general statement.
Reasons:Only exception: Some SATA connected optical drives don't like to be run run in AHCI mode. So it may be a good idea to connect the DVD player/burner to a separate (non-Intel) SATA Controller and - if such option is applicable - set it to IDE mode.

So it's better that I stay with the Microsoft drivers then?

Re: Driver Intel SATA ou Microsoft ?
1 yıl 7 ay önceUsually yes, but not generally. It depends on your specific hardware configuration and on what you are mainly doing with your PC/laptop.So it's better that I stay with the Microsoft drivers then?
That is why I recommend to find the best choice yourself by testing different SATA/NVMe drivers. It is very easy, takes only a few minutes and gives you security for having chosen the best option.
Tip: Don't forget to set a "Restore Point" before starting the comparison tests. This way you can recover your present configuration at any time (even in case of a not bootable system).

With only a DVD player connected to the Intel controller and sometimes an external SSD (otherwise all disks are NVMe), is it better to keep the native MS driver or to install the Intel SATA/AHCI drivers?

Thanks
PS: For information, I tested the Intel v17 drivers, it works very well, but if the MS are better / preferable
