📣INFORMATION

Hello everyone,
I'm once again asking for your generosity, as S-D is facing retirement by the end of July 2025 due to lack of income.
Thank you all for your generosity; even a little means a lot and allows me to continue my passion with you.
Thank you again, a thousand times over.😉

But isn't 40C for the SFP+ module extremely good to begin with? That's the temperature that the switch is reporting for the module with my current custom cooling solution.
I see other people running at +60C degrees saying it's fine.
It's my onboard NIC that is 62 degrees, but even that should be well within margin for this chip?

I should add that I keep running these iperf3 tests, but on I don't even have to do any stress test for it to fail. When I boot the computer and if it's connected with the 10G link, it will start dropping the connection continuously after a few minutes.

i had the same problem with all of my aqc113c/aqc113

2 of them where the cables even though i had good cables already
1 was an overheating module  (well cable and overheating module)

there is no point rulling things out before trying

step 1
get a fan blowing onto the module to cool it down as low as you can get it

doesnt work? step 2
do the same with the AQC113C on the motherboard

doesnt work? step3 force aqc113c to 2.5gbps

i found when i had issues with cable quality 2.5gbps still did it btw
aquantia are relly funny with cables

as soon as RTL8127 comes out im replacing all of my AQC113/AQC113C cards (not soldered onto motherboard)

it literally took me a year to get them running 100%

I will wait a bit with trying 1 and 2 as everything is rackmounted (on shelves, not rails) and it takes a lot of effort to take the stuff out and perform those kind of tests. I also don't own any fans, except for computer fans

What did you mean by "still did it", like it still crashed or it worked?
I've just tried forcing it to 2.5gbps and been running an iperf test with 2.35 Gbits/s throughput for 30 minutes without _any_ issues, so that is interesting!
My temps are currently 52C on the aquantia chip on the motherboard  and 36C on the Wiitek module in the switch.

I just ordered a QSFPTEK module ( www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXNQTXG ) as it was pretty cheap and it has same day delivery in the country that I live in.
Then I can test tonight if the Wiitek module is just straight up faulty at 10G or if it's persistent across brands.

with regards to "still did it" i meant when i had cable issues it would have link up down events still even at 2.5gbps
but not so often

I just pointed one of these at the Module when confirming it was heat on one of my modules
cooled it right down..

That's very good to know about the cables!
I will leave the iperf running over night at 2.5gbps and check the logs, just to see if there will ever be any up downs.
I'm very excited to see what happens when I try a new module on 10G.

Haha I don't own such a fan unfortunately. I have AC in every room so it's not really necessary...
So you were pointing it on the outside of the switch, onto the exposed part of the SFP module?
