Re: Asmedia ASM2464 NVME/USB 4.x Controller Firmware Version 240417_85_00

Hi there,
Just wanted to say thanks for the updates on devices on here. I had a UGreen 10Gbps external caddy that was disconnecting all the time and only thanks to a firmware update on Station Drivers did it become 100% reliable.
However... I've recently purchased a UGreen 40Gbps enclosure with the ASM2464 chip but have been having some issues (despite upgrading the firmware a few weeks ago to the latest available).
I just checked again and was excited to see a new firmware that is supposed to solve the device not being detected on some USB-C ports (the exact issue I'm having with any USB-C port that isn't 40Gbps rated).
My UGreen 40Gbps enclosure is housing a 4TB Crucial P3 Plus NVME drive which I've just updated to the latest 2024-07-03 firmware but it's still not being recognised on two separate devices (both with USB-C 10Gbps ports).
My UGreen 10Gbps enclosure works perfectly at 10Gbps speed on these same ports.
I have so far tried on 3 machines:
All of them work perfectly on USB-A to USB-C cable (at 5Gbps)
I have a MINISFORUM Venus UM790 with an AMD Ryzen 7940HS which has 2 x USB 4 ports and all works fine at full speed (over 3,000 MBs per second on Crystal Disk Mark)
I also have a Ryzen 5800X machine with Asus B550M Plus Wi-Fi motherboard with a single USB-C 10Gbps port
Finally I have a Lenovo YOGA Slim 7 Pro with Ryzen 6800HS and 1 x USB-C 10Gbps port
All running Windows 11 with latest updates and AMD chipset drivers.
For these last two devices, the UGreen 40Gbps enclosure works as expected using USB-A to USB-C (at 5Gbps). However, the device isn't recognised at all when using USB-C to USB-C. I have tried two separate cables (one that comes with it and one cable that is rated to 20Gbps that works fine on the UGreen 10Gbps enclosure).
I've verified the firmware has upgraded correctly to 240703 85 version.
Does anyone have any ideas or should I I look to return the device? I have 10 days left before my return period is up!
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I heard that there are problems if you connect your ASM2464 to a 10Gb USB port, my Ugreen works perfectly on a USB 3.2 USB & USB-C 3.2 Gen2 (20Gb) port too

Thanks for the quick reply. Not planning on upgrading my 10gbps USB C machines (where I use the external enclosure most) and the 5 gbps USB A connection on those really is slow (doing work in Lightroom Classic)
Guess I'll be better off going back to the 10gbps enclosure until Asmedia fix the issues.
Happy to provide any debug info if anyone here passes that onto them to aid bug fixing.
